Competition Rules
1. The call is open to all composers of any nationality, without age limit. It must not have been previously performed in a concert or public event.
2. The works presented will have a free theme and must be written for harp and wind orchestra (electroacoustic devices must be excluded). The setting for the wind orchestra must be as follows: vl 1, vl 2, va, v.c. and d.bs. The duration of the composition must be between 10 and 15 minutes. Works not having the stipulated duration will be disqualified.

The compressed file must contain the full score and harp part as well as an audio (WAV or MP3 file). Showing elements in which the composer’s authorship can be identified should be avoided in order to preserve anonymity before the jury.
4. The deadline for receiving the works will be until midnight on December 23, 2024.
5. One single prize will be created: the winning work will receive 2.500 euros. Being this a taxable amount please take into consideration the withholding tax code. Similarly, the jury will grant an honorable mention, which will not receive any economic prize. Both prize-winning works will be premiered in a Special Concert linked to Noia Harp Fest 2025, being the soloist part interpreted by an internationally renowned harpist.
6. The jury will be made up of figures of recognized prestige together with a secretary with voice but no vote. Its constitution will be made public in advance.
7. The jury will give priority to the following aspects of the presented work:

b. Management of technique and writing for harp as well as orchestration.
c. Coherence, proportion and balance in technical work.
d. Balance between difficulty and musical result.
e. References to Galician music or culture will be positively valued
8. The result of the contest will be announced before February 15, 2025, by email notification to the winner. Likewise, it will be disseminated through the Noia Harp Fest website and social networks.
9. The author of the award-winning work obligatorily commits to include the following inscription in any publicity of the work, as well as in all recordings, editions and programs that include the interpretation of said work: “Winning work of the III Prize International Composition PORTUS APOSTOLI”.
10. The property rights will remain in the possession of the author of the work. In the event that the submitted work incorporates musical fragments or texts of ownership other than that of the author thereof (except when they are made by way of citation, under the terms of article 32 of the Spanish Intellectual Property Law), said fragments or said texts must appear written in the score and the materials, and the corresponding permits must be accredited. In all cases, any responsibility will be assumed by the author.
11. The scores of the winning work will be provided by the composer free of rental charges for the premiere in concert or concerts linked to Noia Harp Fest.
