Call for Submission: Artists in Residence bei MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN – Festival für zeitgenössisches Musiktheater

MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN lädt Musiktheaterkollektive und Künstler:innen ein, an einer Residenz im Juni und September 2024 teilzunehmen. Diese Residenzen sind Teil des EU-geförderten Projekts “What’s Next?”, das sich mit der multidisziplinären Reflexion der europäischen Identität nach Krieg und Krise befasst. Bewerbungen sind bis zum 29. April 2024 möglich.

In June and September 2024, we invite music theatre collectives and artists for a residency in Vienna, Austria. Dive into a vibrant scene, foster connections, and develop your music theatre projects in a supportive environment.

MUSIKTHEATERTAGE WIEN will be hosting two residencies (June and September 2024), as part of the EU-funded residency project What’s Next? exploring “Safe cultural multi-spaces for the multidisciplinary reflection of (post)war and (post)crisis European identity”. Each residency will be two-parted: One week in June and one week in September 2024.

The project concepts you are working on should frame one of the following topics:

  • Ecological future (responsibility, human/environment, sustainability, climate crisis, et.al.)
  • The decision-making human being (e.g., homo politicus, individualism vs. swarm behavior, all kinds of social, political or philosophical aspects)

Residency Details:

Dates: Part one 9th-16th June & Part two 20th-27th September 2024
Location: Vienna, Austria

Who Can Apply?

Open to collectives and artist groups in contemporary music theatre (max. 6 members), who are willing to join both dates (June AND September 2024).

What We Offer:

  • Accommodation and workspace
  • Daily allowance of 30 Euros per artist
  • Networking opportunities with Austrian music theatre creators and international curators in the frame of the ‘Austrian Music Theatre Day’ conference
  • Attendance at cultural events like Vienna International Festival (June) and Musiktheatertage Wien Festival (September)
  • Concluding presentation to Vienna’s music theatre community in frame of a networking event of Musiktheatertage Wien Festival in September 2024

About “What’s next?”

The project “What’s next? Safe cultural multi-spaces for the multidisciplinary reflection of (post)war and (post)crisis European identity” offers a unique opportunity for artists, designers, writers, and creatives of all kinds to explore and expand their creative horizons and reflect on challenges Europe has faced in the recent decade. Cultural (micro) organizations from Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Germany, and Austria will provide interconnected spaces for reflection for artists and cultural workers to come together. During this one-week program, participants will receive support, mentorship, and access to resources to bring their projects to life. Located in an inspiring environment, the residency provides accommodation, workspace, and the chance to connect with fellow creators.
