Der 1. INTERNATIONALE SCHLAGZEUGWETTBEWERB BOLERO findet vom 10. bis 16. Mai 2021 in den Räumlichkeiten unserer Schule in der kleinen slowenischen Stadt Muta statt. Der Wettbewerb richtet sich an junge Schlagzeuger*innen aller Nationalitäten bis zum Alter von 15 Jahren und wird mit dem Ziel organisiert, das professionelle pädagogische Wachstum im Bereich Schlagzeug in Slowenien und darüber hinaus zu fördern und junge Musiker*innen zu ermutigen, ihre musikalischen und künstlerischen Aktivitäten zu vertiefen. Mit seiner internationalen Ausrichtung fördert der Wettbewerb die Teilnahme von Musikinstitutionen und Musiker*innen aus verschiedenen Ländern und trägt zur Entwicklung der Musikkultur und anderer Künste in Slowenien und darüber hinaus bei.
The 1st International Percussion Competition BOLERO will be held from May 10 to May 16, 2021 at the premises of The Private Music School Melodija, Zasebna glasbena šola Muta d.o.o., in the small town of Slovenian Carinthia, Muta. The competition is intended for young percussionists of all nationalities up to the age of 15.
OUR GOAL
The 1st International Percussion Competition BOLERO is organized with the aim of stimulating professional pedagogical growth in the field of percussion in Slovenia and beyond, as well as in an effort to encourage young percussionists to deepen their musical and artistic activities in the long term. With its international orientation, the competition encourages and contributes to the development of music culture, other arts and tourism in the municipality of Muta, a region of Slovenian Carinthia and Slovenia.
CATEGORIES
The competition will be held in different categories for percussion solo or percussion accompanied by the piano. The participants of the competition will be divided into categories according to the year of birth, namely:
- Junior Category – born in 2012 and later
- 1st Category – born in 2010 and 2011
- 2nd Category – born 2008 and 2009
- 3rd Category – born in 2006 and 2007
PROGRAMME

Junior Category – up to 4 minutes
- Piece or pieces of own choice within the prescribed Programme Duration
1st Category – up to 6 minutes
- Piece for snare drum SOLO of own choice
- Piece for xylophone, marimba or vibraphone of own choice
- Pieces of own choice within the prescribed Programme Duration
2nd Category – up to 9 minutes
- Piece for snare drum SOLO of own choice
- Piece for xylophone, marimba or vibraphone of own choice
- Pieces of own choice within the prescribed Program Duration
3rd Category – up to 12 minutes
- Piece for snare drum SOLO of own choice
- Piece for xylophone, marimba or vibraphone of own choice
- Pieces of own choice within the prescribed Program Duration
ASSESSMENT
In each category, participants will receive:
• Gold plaque with praise for achieving 95.00 to 100 points
• Gold plaque for achieving 90.00 to 94.99 points
• Silver plaque for achieving 80.00 to 89.99 points
• Bronze plaque for achieving 70.00 to 79.99 points.
• Recognition of participation for achieving 69.99 points and below.
PRIZES
Junior Category
Each participant in the »Junior Category« category receives a practical prize in addition to a plaque or recognition for participation. The order of the competitors remains anonymous.
The jury selects the most promising young percussionist from the contestants in the »Junior Category«. In addition to the plaque or the award, the most promising young percussionist awardee receives a hand-made cajon from a young Slovenian family-owned company »DP Cajon« in the value of 350 EUR.
1st, 2nd and 3rd Category
In 1st, 2nd and 3rd Category, regardless of the points scored for the first, second and third place, candidates receive a laureate in addition to the plaque:
